Tastiest High Protein Snacks When You Need a Quick Bite

It’s been a year since my last post, so hello — it’s me again! While I’ve been MIA on here, if you’ve hung out with me long enough over the last 12 months, you’ve probably heard me obsess over protein at some point in time. Even when I’m traveling, I bring high protein snacks and my pineapple flavored protein powder with me.

To keep up with my nutrition goals when I’m on-the-go, I’ve been on the hunt for the best high protein snacks and have a few on my rotation. Check out some of my favorites below!

Flock Chicken Chips

These high protein chicken chips are amazing and deserve a top spot on the list. For someone who craves savory snacks over sweet ones, one serving always does the trick! I also love that one bag is one serving — unlike most bags of chips — so I don’t need to weigh anything while I’m out and about. Each high protein snack pack contains 13 grams of protein with no carbs and no sugar.

Chomps Pepperoni Turkey Sticks

If you’re looking for high protein, low calorie snacks to keep stocked in your pantry, this one is a game changer! Chomps turkey sticks are my go-to snack when I need a quick bite on the road. My nutrition coach put me on the pepperoni flavored ones earlier this year as a solution to needing a snack on road trips and I’m so happy she did. It’s like a Slim Jim, but healthier. Each stick is 60 calories with 10 grams of protein, so gone are the days of settling for whatever snacks are available at the next gas station. I always put a couple sticks in my gym bag when I know I’m going to be out all day, or I’ll pack one per day whenever I’m going on a trip, just in case. I’ve recently started to see different flavors of Chomps at Costco and Trader Joe’s too!

Twin Peaks Nacho Cheese Protein Puffs

If you’re a lover of cheesy snacks like me and are on the hunt for high protein snacks to buy, keep reading. I’ve never met a cheese flavored chip I didn’t like, but my absolute weakness is Cheetos. So when I first stumbled upon these nacho cheese flavored protein puffs in an Instagram ad — yes, it got me — I knew I had to try them and I have zero regrets! I’ve already restocked these three times.

Each portable protein pack is equal to two servings, but what’s great is that the bag is resealable, so it’s super easy to save for later! Every serving has 21 grams of protein, 2 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fat, and comes out to 130 calories. Full disclosure: I’m snacking on these as I write this article right now.

Trader Joe’s Plant-Based Pork Rinds

These spicy plant-based snacks opened the floodgates into my new obsession for finding high protein snacks. I’ll normally weigh out about 1.5 to 2 ounces of this in one sitting, but one serving is 1 oz and contains 7 grams of protein, 15 grams of carbs, 5 and grams of fat.

I’ll be honest, although this snack advertises itself as an alternative to chicharron — a.k.a. pork rinds — I wouldn’t quite say it achieves that. But if I think of it as chips (instead of chicharron) I think it does the job pretty well. Plus, they’re vegan, gluten free, and dairy free!

The Good Bean Protein Snack Mix, Sea Salt Flavor

A friend introduced this protein snack mix to me earlier this year and initially I didn’t give it a chance because I’m not a big fan of beans. But last month, another friend brought it out on a sunny day out while we were swimming in a river, and I’m so glad I finally tried these! If you’re familiar with Filipino snacks, these remind me of a healthier version of Ding Dongs, which I loved growing up. But if you compare ¼ cup of The Good Bean vs. Ding Dongs: the healthy alternative has 7 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber compared to 2 grams of protein and 2.5 grams of fiber.

I’ll probably keep adding more snacks as I discover them here. If there are any you personally loved, slide into my DMs on Instagram to let me know!
